Family incomes,
and jobs can be lost. Assets may need to be sold to pay for
the medical costs, worse still is the amount of stress, suffering
and inconvenience put on the injured person and their family,
especially when the negligent party walks away none the worse.
Liability insurance will cover the insured person and those
who live in that person’s home. It will also provide coverage
even when those people covered by the policy are walking in
the street, and are injured by a hit and run motorist.
If underinsured, or uninsured motorist cover is not obtained,
this could mean that those who are bodily harmed as a result
of some kind of auto accident are responsible for their own
medical expenses, if the person responsible for the damage
is not properly covered.
Often the person who is injured can sue the motorist for
damages, however if the motorist has no assets or money there
is not much use in suing for damages. Uninsured or underinsured
motorist coverage is very important to have, and is very cheap
to get insure yourself for.
The question that many people who are taking out an insurance
policy need to ask themselves is can they afford not to have
uninsured, or underinsured motorist cover.
